REMBRANDT'S~THE NIGHT WATCH~Reich's Museum Amsterdam Holland

Rembrandt's
The Night Watch
Reich's Museum
Amsterdam
Holland

Before reading this poem please look up the image of
Rembrandt's The Night Watch
study it
then read the poem

When first I stood to see
Night Watch, a hand
thrust out to me
Receiving
my visit
as though real

Another with fowl
upon her belt
looked me in
the eyes
Ah yes
Rembrandt's
wife,
Sakia it be!

Light shining upon faces whilst obscure men
not seen
Leather boots
and feathered hat
could be felt
as real

One man's
"selfie"
gesture
another's gun
an oar
rowing down
the Grand Canal
"How well I've been
received"
and feel apart
but I have
to leave
forever changed
by this
monumental
encounter
