Do You Smell That?

Do you smell that?
The fragrance of salt and
sand next to roaring waves
of blue, royal, sky
High the waves fly crashing
releasing more hot air aroma and salty birds
strolling down empty beaches
fragrances of musty flowers
almost dry purple
and orange green
waving their perfume of mist over vistas
of clear glass and sea grass
Did you smell that?

That Tree is Dancing!

For Jesus

That tree is dancing
In the wind
In the rain
It's always happy
When the sun shines
and it is still
It glissens
It's leaf-lips
open and close
smiling
It teaches
to be even, steady
To enjoy that
that seems cold, wet
In all circumstances
to sit
expectantly waiting
patiently listening
acceptantly
to what comes next.

Garlic I

Art Day

The sea, rough, birds fly
Spring day sharpening pencils
Fabers they say
Sketch book open
Orange flowers, periwinkles
In terracotta pot
Japanese knife
Slowly chipping excess wood away
Until color blooms exquisitely
Under stress the best
Comes forward
and pencil readied
Finds paper longing
For creative contact
As sea pounds away

Drying Clothes

Sea air dries clothes

Upside-down shirts

Inside-out pants

Hang from lines across

White-washed walls

Swing from pegs

Side by side

Whilst

Sea birds fly

Passing by

Sea breeze flaps

Clothes in unhurried

Rhythms

Three to one

One to four

So much more

Sun sitting

quietly watching

Symphony

Happily clapping

For

Encore

Rooster Peep

Dark

five a.m.

rooster struts

stretches neck

cocks head

opens beak

blasts his call

into night

"Arise one

shine all

day has begun"

as one eye

peeks

Rooster

Rooster

Rooster crows from

farm by sea

still night

dark

only sound

shriek

up hill

over dunes

into ear

it's clear

this sound

says time

to arise

shine
