The sea, rough, birds fly
Spring day sharpening pencils
Fabers they say
Sketch book open
Orange flowers, periwinkles
In terracotta pot
Japanese knife
Slowly chipping excess wood away
Until color blooms exquisitely
Under stress the best
Comes forward
and pencil readied
Finds paper longing
For creative contact
As sea pounds away
